Description SEMO Tank, owned by Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), sells, leases, and repairs tank trailers and offers a vast inventory of related parts for resale. The controller is responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting functions of the business including the monthly and year-end closing processes, budget preparation, internal controls, and compliance. Additionally, the ability to develop key metrics that add value to the organization and effectively communicate this information to the management team is essential. Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
Oversee and participate in the timely and accurate completion of the general ledger monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial reporting is completed in accordance with GAAP Prepare the annual budget by partnering with management, accounting, and operations to achieve an end result that aligns with the strategic plan of the business Implement monthly reporting practices that identify actual versus budget variances that are communicated timely with management Coordinate local compliance with DFA policies and procedures and ensure cooperation with enterprise-wide functional departments Maintain company records in accordance with DFA's record retention policy Direct and ensure compliance with all reporting and fiscal requisites (i.e., sales tax, property tax, FET, dealer reporting, milk tank inspections, etc.) Regularly monitor and ensure company-wide adherence to internal controls to mitigate financial risk Participate in the development and implementation of the strategic plan, ensuring that it includes a credible financial strategy that supports the business objectives Identify key performance drivers and develop corresponding KPI's that add value to the organization by providing information to the management team by which to evaluate performance and proactively adjust strategy to maximize profitability and achieve strategic growth Work closely with the leadership team to identify opportunities and develop strategies, understand internal business operations, and make decisions on process development and implementation to increase efficiencies and create cost savings Work alongside direct reports as a coach and partner to effectively manage job performance, communicate company and cascading goals and assist with establishing goals that align with department and company objectives Provide on-going performance feedback and conduct performance conversations; hold direct reports accountable for results and work with them to cultivate their capabilities and utilize their strengths The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned Location Perryville, Missouri Requirements Education and Experience 5 or more years experience in Finance and Accounting 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance Certification and/or License - CPA certification preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skills in strategic thinking Able to use strong sense of urgency in achieving objectives, with a high energy level and strong bias towards action Able to inspire others to meet goals and objectives Able to be flexible and pragmatic in implementing financial controls while maintaining focus on the big picture Strong knowledge of accounting and finance Excellent analytical and organizational skills Excellent presentation skills; articulate in explaining financial and control activities, strategy, and plans Strong interpersonal skills Able to demonstrate solid business judgement and decision-making skills Able to organize and manage multiple priorities. Skills in effective problem analysis and problem resolution at both the strategic and functional levels Must be able to read, write and speak English
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
AccountingEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
